Meet Laura Kaye, a romance author and professor from Maryland.

I was so thrilled when she contacted me because headshots are one of my favorite sessions to shoot. In need of some updated professional photos for her website and other publications, I had the perfect location in mind. So we headed to my favorite little old town… Historic Ellicott City… perfect for the History Professor. And I must say, it was the best weather we’ve had in a long time! Enjoy!

She’s a story teller and I love to tell stories thru the lens. You should be able to look at a picture and figure out a few details about that person’s life. Where they are coming from, what kind of lifestyle they live, and most importantly what their personality is like. Laura is such a wonderful person to be around and I think these photos capture that magically.

I can’t tell you how excited I was when I received the picture message of her gorgeous ring and no explanation. She didn’t even have to say it, I just knew how amazing her proposal was and was so happy that she met her prince charming. I was there the night she met Erik back in college at the Monkey Barrel and all the funny stories that go with that night. I’ve never met someone so supportive and loving to her, he was the perfect boyfriend for her and now… the perfect fiance. They’ve come a long way from Thirsty Thursdays at Barrel and Dock Partys at Brew… now look where they are… 3.5 years later they are planning their special day. I am so grateful for these two, as I love them both so dearly and can’t wait to be a part of their wedding day. Congratulations Stephanie and Erik!

Meet Philip.

He’s an actor in the MD/DC area. In a quick mini session in Columbia, MD we were able to get a few photos. I’ve never had so much fun or laughed so hard at a shoot like I did with Mr. Phil. As you can tell, he’s quite the comedian and such a great spirit.

Family Reunion:: Dickerson-Chapman

Last weekend I attended the Dickerson-Chapman Family Reunion in Wytheville, VA. After a 5-hour car ride, it was fun, fun, and more fun to come all weekend. I always like visiting small towns. There is so much history and more to enjoy about the countryside. It’s humbling to have no internet access and really just learn to love the outdoors. Compared to Maryland, being up in the mountains… it was a whopping 10 degrees cooler. The mountain breeze, fresh air, and quiet made the weekend just that more relaxing. Not to mention, hanging with some friends + family!

I had time to do a few headshots while at the reunion, these are my favs… enjoy!!

Hot Summer Days:: Sandy Point State Park

It’s been a very hott summer. I’m talking 100+ degrees for days… desert heat in Maryland. Earlier this week I found the perfect spot on the beach… 4:30 pm under a big tree right on the water. So there was a little breeze and every now and then I would drown my feet in the bath water, I mean, bay. TIt’s a cute little area, filled with aspiring fishermen, families cooking out, and sun bathers. It’s no Caribbean Beach… but it’s a Maryland Beach that I can find myself visiting for a quick “beach day.”

I love weddings. I love the venues, I love the details, I love the vows, and I love, love. A few weeks ago I had the privilege of being invited to Foster + Danielle’s wedding at the Turf Valley Resort + Golf Course in Ellicott City, MD. I’ve known them for quite a few years and every time I fall in love with how much they adore each other. As a guest, I was able to get a few shots in from our seats… enjoy!!!

Meet Monique + Melissa of MoniLissa Photography, friends of mine from college.

They are beautiful, aren’t they?!

So how’d they get started in photography?? It happened like this…these best friends got married and loved wedding planning. They also love photographs and artsy things… and boom, there you have it. Maryland Wedding Photographers at your finest! I was so excited when they contacted me to do their head shots, because #1 they are gorgeous #2 I love to support other photographers!

As you can see [if you've been following my blog] Ellicott City, MD is becoming a trend, or more like a favorite location for me. It’s perfect, so many beautiful and very different backgrounds all within a 2 mile radius. Every time I go there I find a new spot or several!

They are so much fun and I can’t wait to work together some more!

Remember Amanda? I had the privilege of photographing her after she won the American Coed Pageant last year.

Well she’s back with a second win and reclaimed her title.

Despite the warm weather and school buses of kids, Amanda worked the camera flawlessly!

Bored:: DC Cherry Blossoms

This is soooo late, but as I was going through my ligthroom collections I found these photos I never blogged about.

This year I went to the Cherry Blossom Festival for the first time. I felt like because I’ve lived in the Metro Area for years… it’s one of those things you have to cross off your bucket list and experience first hand. I could have done without the traffic and definitely passed out the 3 mile walk to get to the trees. However, I must say… they are gorgeous and I wouldn’t take it back. Next year I have to do the full experience, picnic in the park, visit the vendors, and enjoy the beautiful weather.

For all those that say they smell bad, I unfortunately didn’t get to experience that (thank goodness).
